imaginary land

Date December 3, 2008

“There the rose of joy bloomed immortal by dale and stream; clouds never darkened the sunny sky;  sweet bells never jangled out of tune; and kindred spirits abounded.  The knowledge of that land’s geography… east o’ the sun and west o’ the moon… is priceless lore, not to be bought in any market place.  It must be the gift of the good fairies at birth and the years can never deface it or take it away.  It is better to possess it, living in a garrett, than to be the inhabitant of palaces without it.”

                                             from Anne of Avonlea

I love those books! Abbey Beth found mine at Mama’s a few weeks ago. She has decided she will read them. I do think they are a bit hard for her right now, but I am so excited that she wants to read.

Anne of Green Gables is my favorite character EVER! I read all the books as a kid, practically memorized the movies, and spent hours pretending to be Anne. I was so proud my middle name was Anne, and when I was 7, I requested for a couple of weeks that everyone call me Anne, until I got sick of my friends who couldn’t remember the change and my parents who refused to acknowledge it. Bless you for putting a quote from Anne on the blog. That just makes my day, you kindred spirit you. 🙂

Anne of GG is also my fave. I just explained to a Canadian the other day that my only reference point to where she was from was…’So how far is that from Prince Edward’s Island? and you know. Avonlea?”
